Calpe is a beautiful coastal village known for the famous landmark rock of Penon de Ifach. This Spanish village of 13,000 people has gorgeous beaches, great sightseeing, and plentiful accommodation for travellers. Calpe is located in between Altea to the south and Javea to the north. The weather in Calpe is mild, as the mountains shield the town from the strong winds.
This Spanish village has gorgeous views around the bays of Costa Blanca. Calpe has four beaches in the area, as Playa Arenal and Cantal Roig are known for their fine sand, and the Bay of Gasparet and La Fossa are also nice beaches to relax at. The beaches of Calpe offer great swimming, surfing, or just taking in the sun. The area around Costa Blanca also has several golf courses. Calpe has a yacht harbour and fishing harbour that it shares with neighbouring Teuleda. There is sailing and yachting from the harbour, with favourable winds for each activity.
The sightseeing in Calpe is a highlight, as there are two churches of Iglesia Antigua and Senora de las Nievas that should not be missed. They were both built in the 15th century and were attacked by pirates several times and have been restored to their original beauty. The massive rock of Penon de Ifach looks over all of Calpe and can be seen from all around the area. Calpe also has an interesting archaeological museum opposite the Plaza de la Villa, Roman ruins from the 4th to 8th century of the Bano de la Reina, and the old tower of Torreon de la Peca. Calpe culture can be seen at the Museo Fester in Calle Jose Antoni.
Accommodations in Calpe are found mainly just outside the town, where there are a number of hotels as well as apartments available.
