Sofia is both the Capital city and a Province of Bulgaria. The town was born in the 7th Century BC around a mineral spring, which is still there today. Sofia’s name has changed many times in its history and in 1878 it became the capital of Bulgaria. The word Sofia comes from the Greek word for Wisdom.
Built in a valley the Vitosha Mountains rise above the city giving it a dramatic outlook. The city has many wonderful sites including parks, museums and buildings. Being steeped in so much history, there are many public buildings worth a visit.
As Europe unites and low cost travel reaches many areas, Sofia is
now firmly on the map for weekends getaways and tourists. Many large
companies have moved into Sofia and as such the demand for good property
is on the increase. Like Bansko, Sofia is seeing many property developers
building new off plan development in the city centre for many different
types of clients. As the rental market is good too, this capital
is a good bet for long-term investment. Improved lending by local
banks has also helped stimulate the market. With prices much lower
than many other European Capital cities Sofia is a great place to

It is about a 2 and a half hours drive from the Blacksea coast with
resorts like Golden Sands, Sunny
Beach and Nessebar. It is also about
a 2 hours drive from the Ski Resorts of Bansko and Pamporovo.
