Grenada is a mountainous island with an area of only 133 square miles, 21 miles long and 12 miles wide. Its countryside consists of different spice trees and tropical flowers that are rare. Grenada known as the Spice Island has traded the following nutmeg (its main export), cocoa, cinnamon, ginger and cloves.

Grenada is the most southerly of the Windward Islands in the Caribbean and has a population of about 100,000. To the North lie St. Vincent and the Grenadines and to the South lie Trinidad and Tobago.

Grenada is actually part of athree island state, which includes Grenada, Carriacou, and Petit Martinique.
Grenada is the largest island of the three and at 2,757 feet Mount Saint Catherine is the highest point on the island.
Carriacou is relatively flat in comparison to Grenada, with an area of 13 square miles and sweeping sandy beaches. Petit Martinique is known for its tranquility and is a haven for writers. The island is dominated by a 750 foot high mountain still exisiting from its volcanic past.

The capital, St. George's, is one of the prettiest cities in the Caribbean. The capital sits on a horseshoe-shaped harbour and is surrounded by an eclectic mix of pastel dockside warehouses and the red-tiled roofs of traditional homes.

Average temperatures range from 24C/ 75F to 30C/ 87F, and kept steady by the fresh trade winds, this is typical of many caribbean islands.

The East Caribbean dollar is the currency in Grenada and is linked to the US dollar. Local banks will change euros and british sterling, however be careful about the rate you get as it is not fixed!

The economy has moved towards tourism recently, and there are a number of small resorts located throughout the island. Eco tourism is also a great driver for many tourists, with its lush vegetation; it is a paradise in itself. Don’t forget to visit the Levera and Lake Antoine National Parks.

For divers, Grenada has an extensive section of coral reefs along the coastline, which are beautiful. Several dive shops in the south of the island offer excursions and snorkeling trips.
