One of Europe's favourite Mediterranean holiday regions, the vast Costa del Sol or 'Sun Coast' extends along the 161 kilometres of coastline from the Costa Tropical south of Granada to the tip of Tarifa past the Straits of Gibraltar, which is the door to the Mediterranean Sea from the Atlantic Ocean. Situated in the South of Spain it really does have something for everyone - sandy beaches, year-round sunshine, excellent sporting facilities and lively nightlife. And if you like a little culture on your holidays, there's plenty to see. It's capital city Málaga, establishes the division between the west of the Costa del Sol, which include; Elviria, Benahavis, Casares, Marbella, Estepona, Puerto de la Duquesa and areas surrounding Cádiz and Sotogrande; and the east of the Costa del Sol, which include Nerja, Torre del Mar and Tolox. A place well worth visiting is Ronda, this historic city boasts a majestic location, atop a famous cliff and surrounded by mountains.

The Costa del Sol enjoys a Mediterranean climate with relatively high temperatures for Europe. The interior of the province is sheltered by the chain of mountains that runs adjacent to the coast, which results in a pleasant continental climate and plenty of sunshine means it is a perfect place to enjoy a few rounds of Golf. With over 35 courses, and more under construction, it is no wonder the area benefits from a reputation as a golf mecca attracting an ever increasing number of golfers enthusiasts and professionals from across the world to world famous courses such as Valderrama, host to the 1997 Ryder cup.
