The Dominican Republic in the Caribbean is an all year round near perfect weather destination.
A mountain range sits in the middle of the island with White Water Rivers and beautiful waterfalls. The white-sandy beaches are of course a reason to come to this island especially at Bavaro, but close to the beaches are the sugar cane fields which are in turn harvested to produce local rum exported all over the world. Dominican has a great atmosphere for all types of visitor including the explorer, party goer or to relax, revive and refresh.
The Dominican Republic lies between Puerto Rico and Cuba in the Caribbean. Its central location in the Caribbean has meant a steady influx of tourists for many years; as such it has a healthy local economy. Tourists like the Dominican because it is cheaper than neighbouring islands, but still offers all the facilities of other islands. Its capital Santo Domingo is a thriving bustling city, that has a very laid back way to life. The old colonial architecture is still very much a part of the cities history with a castle nestled on the rocks on the edge of the city. Partying in the Caribbean is a part of life and the Dominican Republic is no exception. Two carnivals with dancing eating drinking and partying in the streets, live music and local/tourists interaction, make this time of year a great time to visit the island (pre lent Feb/March time).
